"2018 China-Korea Logistics Seminar and Shandong Gyeonggi-do Development Forum" was held in Jinan

"2018 China-Korea Logistics Seminar and Shandong Gyeonggi-do Development Forum " was held on October 30 in Jinan. It was sponsored by Shandong Academy of Social Sciences, Shandong Academy of Transportation Science, Korea Gyeonggi-do Research Institute, Korea Gyeonggi Pyeongtaek Port Commune, co-organized by Business School of Shandong Normal University, Insurance College of Shandong University of Finance and Economics, the Ocean Harbor Policy Section of Gyeonggi-do and Regional Office for Economic Freedom in the Yellow Sea, Korea.

Researcher Yuan Hongying, deputy Dean of Shandong Academy of Social Sciences, Mr. Hong Guishan, Minister of Industry Integration, Regional Office of Economic Freedom of the Yellow Sea, Korea, attended the meeting and delivered speeches. The meeting was chaired by Xie Guishan, director of the Institute of Law of the Shandong Academy of Social Sciences, Zhao Yinglai, former deputy director of the Gyeonggi Research Institute, and Li Guangjie, director of the Institute of International Economics of the Shandong Academy of Social Sciences. Zhang Fenglian, director of the Scientific Research Organization of the Shandong Academy of Social Sciences, made a concluding speech.

Yuan Hongying, deputy dean of the Shandong Academy of Social Sciences, pointed out in her speech that the logistics cooperation between China and South Korea, especially between Shandong and South Korea, has a good foundation and rich experience. In March of this year, Shandong and the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Resources of South Korea held "The Second Joint Meeting of Shandong and  Province of South Korea" in Seoul. At the same time, Weihai China-Korea Free Trade Zone, Local Economic Cooperation Demonstration Zone and China-Korea (Yantai) Industrial Park, as an important cooperation platform for the China-South Korea Free Trade, are promoting the comprehensive cooperation between China and South Korea in the fields of transportation and logistics.

Mr. Hong Guishan, Minister of Industry Integration, Regional Office of Economic Freedom of the Yellow Sea, Korea said that in the past two or three years, the exchanges between Gyeonggi and Shandong have decreased. Taking this seminar as an opportunity, he hoped to further enhance the friendly cooperation between the two places. In particular, he was looking forward to proposing diversified countermeasures to expand logistics and transportation between Pyeongtaek Port on Gyeonggi Province and major ports in Shandong.

The forum is divided into five parts: opening ceremony, academic publication, opinion review, free discussion and closing ceremony. Chen Xiaoqian, deputy director of the Japan-Korea Research Office of the Institute of International Economics, Shandong Academy of Social Sciences; Li Jinna, engineer of the Comprehensive Transportation Development Research Institute of Shandong Transportation Science Research Institute; Zhao Yinglai, former vice president and researcher of the Gyeonggi Research Institute, Korea, and Li Dongxuan, professor of Pyeongtaek University, Korea separately made speeches. The titles are “Status and Prospects of Cross-border E-commerce Development in Shandong and South Korea”, "China and South Korea carry out multi-modal transport to promote economic and trade development", "Study on the development of China-South Korea railway ferry cooperation under the background of the Belt and Road", "The Role and Task of Pyeongtaek Port in the Revitalization of Logistics between China and Korea".

Experts and scholars from universities and research institutions in Shandong Province and Gyeonggi Province, as well as government department staff, conducted in-depth discussions on the theme of China-South Korea logistics cooperation. They comprehensively analyzed the logistics cooperation between China and South Korea under the background of “The Belt and Road”, especially the opportunities and advantages of strengthening logistics cooperation between Shandong and Gyeonggi. Experts and scholars from both sides conducted in-depth discussions and made many suggestions. This seminar provides high-quality intellectual support and theoretical support to promote logistics cooperation between the two countries.
