In order to thoroughly study and implement General Xi Jinping’s series of important expositions on Marx and Marxism, On September 26, 2018, the Marxist Institute of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and the Shandong Academy of Social Sciences jointly held an academic symposia on “Studying General Secretary Xi Jinping's Important Expositions on Marx and Marxism" in Jinan.

Researcher Deng Chundong, Party Secretary and Dean of the Marxist Academy of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Researcher Wang Xingguo, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of the Shandong Academy of Social Sciences, attended the opening ceremony. Researcher Yuan Hongying, vice president of Shandong Academy of Social Sciences, presided over the symposia. Professor Wang Shaoxing, Dean of the School of Marxism at Shandong University, presided over academic exchanges.

Researcher Deng Chundong, Party Secretary and Dean of the Marxist Academy of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences pointed out that Studying General Secretary Xi Jinping's important expositions on Marxism and Marxism, we should promote the establishment and consolidation of the guiding position of Marxism in China, should promote the Guidance of Marxism on the Formation of the Disciplinary System and Discourse System of Philosophy and Social Sciences, promote the development of socialism with Chinese characteristics in practice, promote the innovative development of Marxist theory. Researcher Wang Xingguo, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of Shandong Academy of Social Sciences, pointed out in his speech that studying General Secretary Xi Jinping's important expositions on Marxism and Marxism, we must profoundly understand that Marxism is a great banner, which guides the world socialist movement to keep moving forward; we must fully understand that the development of contemporary China urgently calls for Marxism in the 21st century; we must constantly open up a new realm of Marxism in the 21st century. 

More than 90 experts and scholars from the Academies of Social Sciences, the Party Schools , and the Marxist Colleges of the universities have gathered together. The conference held academic exchanges around the following main topics: Marx's important role and important position in the history of human society development, Xi Jinping's exposition on the Marxist scientific system, Xi Jinping's exposition on studying and practicing Marxism's thoughts on adhering to the people's standpoint, and Xi Jinping's exposition on consolidating the guiding position of Marxism in the ideological field. Professor Wang Shaoxing, Dean of the School of Marxism at Shandong University, presided over the academic exchanges and gave a wonderful comment on the experts’ speech. Professor Liu Shulin, doctoral supervisor, School of Marxism, Tsinghua University; Professor Wang Qingsong, doctoral supervisor, School of Marxism, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics; Sun Zhanyuan, the former vice president of the Party School of the Shandong Provincial Party Committee, the first inspector; Researcher Liu Zhiming, Director of the Marxist Development Research Department of the Marxist Institute of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences; Professor Zhou Xiangjun, doctoral supervisor, School of Marxism, Shandong University;
